Ever been interested in making your own candles? I bet you never thought to make them in the microwave. There are very few things you need to make candles.
What you need:
Beeswax or soy wax
Wick (uncut)
Container (mason jars, old cups, and even pickle jars can be used, since we love upcycling)
Essential oil scent of your preference
Mica coloring powder (optional)
Glass container to melt the wax in
Item to hold wick in upright position (I used butter knives)
Measure your wax using the container that will hold the candle. You will need approximately 1 1/2 of that container filled to where you want the candle to go.
Place the wax in the glass container to be microwaved. Heat it for about one minute and stir, repeat the process until the wax is completely melted.
Add the essential oil of your choice and colored powder if you want it and stir until completely mixed.
Place the wick in the center of the candle container of your choice and hold it upright as you pour the wax into your container.
After you have poured the wax into the container, place the item you are using to hold the wick upright on top of the container (I use three knives and position them so that they form a tight triangle over the wick so that it does not slump or move away from the center of the candle.
Allow to sit until the wax is completely cooled and dried. Then you can trim the wick to your preferred size.
