I know what you may be thinking, cabbage steaks can't possibly be that satisfying. But, I used to make this as a side when I ate meat. Now that I no longer eat meat, I eat this by itself and it is a very filling and satisfying meal on it's own.
There are a couple of different options available for making these. If you prefer you can throw them on the grill. You can also cook them in the microwave or even on your stove top if you prefer to do that instead.
They are extremely easy to make, and you can change them up depending on your preference. I like mine with some spice, so I make them with a special sauce and season the cabbage before I bake it in the oven as well.
Ingredients:
1 head of cabbage, sliced into 1/2 inch steaks
Oil of your choice
Paprika
Salt
Cayenne Pepper
Chopped Garlic
Instructions:
Preheat your oven: Set your oven to 400dg.
Prepare your cabbage steaks: Drizzle your cabbage steaks with oil and season with salt, paprika, and cayenne pepper to your preference.
Bake: Bake the cabbage steaks in the oven for approximately 30 minutes.
Prepare the sauce: Heat oil in pan on the stove over medium heat. Add a tablespoon of chopped garlic. Season with cayenne pepper (use sparingly, it adds a lot of heat).
Finish: When the cabbage steaks are complete, drizzle the sauce over the steaks.
