I wrote before about the harmful chemicals used in a lot of beauty products, from soap to lotion. Although the solutions to the common products are pretty easy (homemade soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc.) you may have a hard time finding solutions to other problems which people commonly address with expensive products. We'll discuss some all natural solutions to some common issues people want to address.
Teeth Whitening: This is a surprisingly easy (and affordable) issue to address which has a natural solution. Charcoal is commonly used in teeth whitening toothpastes (which can cost quite a lot). You can either create your own charcoal toothpaste or you can dip your toothbrush with regular toothpaste into charcoal powder and brush your teeth as you would normally.
Facial Masks: The same product you use to whiten your teeth can also be used as a facial mask. Charcoal can be combined with water and oil to make a facial mask. Add clay for a thicker mask. Charcoal is excellent for the treatment of black heads and can help even out your skin.
Under Eye Circles: There are two natural solutions to under eye circles. Cucumber slices and used tea bags can be placed over your eyes for 10-15 minutes to help alleviate the problem of circles under your eyes.
Facial Toner: Facial toner is actually something that is insanely easy to make and you can easily avoid using chemical laden (even the "all natural" brands contain them) store bought variety. Use apple cider vinegar and water to clean your face. You can experiment with this to determine the correct application for your skin tone. Start off with one part vinegar to two parts water and adjust as needed.
Conditioner: The only reason you need conditioner for your hair is because the chemicals in your shampoo strip your scalp of oils that hydrate your scalp and hair naturally. Switch up your routine for a healthier solution for your body. Shampoo bars do not contain chemicals which are making you sick and you will no longer need conditioner. Just rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar and allow the vinegar to sit in your hair for a couple of minutes like you would with conditioner. Be advised, your hair does go through an adjustment period when you put it through a chemical detox, but you will end up with healthier, shinier hair after that period is over.
So, you can replace a lot of products you spend tons of money on with cheaper and much healthier alternatives. Added bonus, you probably already have most of these items in your house. Apple cider vinegar, charcoal, tea bags, and cucumbers can be used to replace expensive products which are actually damaging to your body and health.
